TIPS FOR WORLD CRUISERS

WHO GOES THERE?

TIME TO ENJOY THE WORLD
More and more people today find that later in life they have more time on their hands, and are in the fortunate position to be able to afford to take many months off on holiday.

World cruises take about 120 days for the entire cruise. But most passengers will only complete a segment of the cruise.

World cruises can be difficult to take for some people - you have the same travelling companions for months on end, and you might prefer to take several shorter cruises. But for some, the opportunity to see the world without having to pack more than once is an opportunity not to be missed.

ESCAPE FROM THE WINTER
World cruises are always done in the winter months, usually from January to March, just the time to get away!

Most world cruises go round the world from west to east, so from the UK they will go through the Mediterranean, the Suez canal, the Indian Ocean to the Far East and they will either go North to China, or south to Australia, then across the Pacific Ocean to America, then through the Panama canal to the Caribbean and back home.

A world cruise will stop off at many many ports of call, and give you the opportunity to see a lifetime's worth of holidays.

It is mostly the larger ships that do a world cruise, and you would want it that way - 120 days is a long time, so you will want to make use of the facilities offered by the big ships to while away the time, especially as there are some long crossings of oceans, and you may get several sea days together.

TIPS FOR WORLD CRUISERS:
* Pack as much as you can fit into your cabin. If you can get to the ship without flying, then you are not restricted in any way by a weight allowance - you can take as much as you can fit in your car.

* Take several formal outfits. There will be quite a few formal evenings. Of course you will get plenty of shopping opportunities on a world cruise.

* You will probably need quite a variety of warmth of clothes, as world cruises cover a huge variety of climates. Take plenty of 'layer' clothes that you can take off or put on at will.

* World cruises are gaining in popularity and get booked up well in advance, so plan early if you want your desired cabin.
